Abdul Sathar is a veteran in Information Technology, ERP and BPM Systems, Petrochemical Plant Systems and Information Security Operations with a career span of 27 years in various domains of I.T. He joined IEI Qatar Chapter in 1996 and he has proved his capabilities through various activities of IEI Qatar Chapter as Hon. Aref Al-Tamimi is a Senior Manager of the National cybersecurity research lab at Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI). Before being a manager, he was a senior software engineer, in the field of Cyber Security. His work involves collaborations with stakeholders and governments, providing research solutions to their challenges, and training programs to their IT’s and to the community. His technical work includes research and developments of prototypes in Applied research, specifically in anomaly and malicious activity detection in networks. Before Joining QCRI, He was an entrepreneur in Network and IT solutions in Montreal, Canada. Mr. AlTamimi holds a Master of Engineering ( M.E.) degree from École Supérieure d’Ingénieurs en Électrotechnique et Électronique (ESIEE Paris) in 2014. He received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada in 1999. Mr. Al-Tamimi is also a PhD candidate at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in Qatar. His research work is in the interdisciplinary field of cyber security and electronics. Specifically in low weight hardware/software security of IoT devices. He also completed the prestigious executive leadership program at Qatar leadership Center(QLC).
